Crafted to command. The 2021 Lexus LX boldly traverses the territory of uncompromising refinement and capability as our flagship luxury utility vehicle. The Lexus LX is a large, capable SUV that blends off-road abilities with an upscale interior. The body-on-frame construction makes it rugged and bold, but step inside and it's pure luxury. The 2021 model has a new Inspiration Series. It comes in either Black Onyx or Eminent White Pearl and has blacked-out exterior trim elements and even more opulence in the cabin than the other models. Additional changes for 2021 include adding Amazon Alexa compatibility, a new exterior paint color, nearly 360 degrees of visibility, and a new interior color scheme.
Trim Levels
This SUV comes in one trim level, but you can choose from the two-row version or the three-row version. Standard features include 20-inch wheels, adaptive dampers, an adjustable-height suspension, and adaptive LED headlights. It also comes with fog lights and a power liftgate. The Luxury Package adds projector door lamps, and the Sport Package adds a unique grille, 21-inch alloy wheels, and a bold front fascia.
The Inspiration Series, which is a new model for 2021, has 21-inch black wheels, a black grille, and black exterior trim elements and badging. It also adds black finishes to the headlights, taillights, and fog lights.
Engine
Power for the LX comes from a 5.7-liter V-8 engine that produces 383 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque. Lexus adds an eight-speed automatic transmission to power all four wheels through the full-time four-wheel-drive system.
Performance
The ride on the road in the LX feels smooth and comfortable. The engine has plenty of power for such a large SUV, and it feels stable whether you're driving straight down the highway or around curvy mountain roads. Take the LX off-road, and you'll experience the LX in its element. It tackles muddy and rocky terrain with ease, and the added features - such as crawl control and the adjustable suspension - make off-roading even easier so you can have more fun!
Interior
The two-row LX seats five people, while the three-row version fits eight. The seats are comfortable and supportive, with plenty of head and legroom in the first two rows. Everyone sits on leather upholstery in this Lexus, and the two front seats come with heat and a power-adjustment feature. The second row also has a power-adjustment feature, and the third row has a 50/50 split that can flip up against the sides of the cargo area. A refrigerated box in the center console bin provides a place to keep items cool.
The infotainment system has a massive 12.3-inch screen, and it uses Lexus' Remote Touch controller that sits in the center console. Navigation comes standard, along with satellite radio, HD radio, and USB ports. A wireless smartphone charger is an available option, and you can add a rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.6-inch displays.
Safety Features
There are plenty of safety systems that come with the LX in addition to the rearview camera. Standard driver aids include a forward-collision warning system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor. You also get a surround-view parking camera, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, and an off-road camera system.
