Brake repair | FOX Lexus of El Paso in El Paso, TX

4 Signs Your Lexus Needs a Brake Repair

You should visit your local El Paso, TX Acura dealership as soon as you notice that you need a brake repair. Driving with faulty brakes is one of the most dangerous things that you can do in a vehicle, so never, ever take a risk with your brakes. Visit us as soon as you notice any of the signs listed below. 1. There's a Metallic Scraping Sound Your brake pads are equipped with a built-in system that lets you know when it's time for your brake pads to be replaced. The brake pads wear away, and a sharp metal component is exposed. This metal component scrapes against your rotor, and in doing so, it creates a high-pitched metallic squealing sound. You'll hear this sound while you're driving, and at first, it's very faint. You should always take a moment on every journey to drive with your windows rolled up and the radio off, as that will ensure you hear this sound. 2. There's a Clicking Noise Occurring Some vehicles have their brake pads held in place with pins, bolts, or clips. This ensures your brake pads don't wobble around. However, the pens, bolts, or clips holding the brake pads can become loose, and when they do, you'll hear a clicking sound. You'll hear this sound when you use the brake pedal, so always listen extra closely when it's time to brake. 3. It's Taking Longer Than Usual to Brake If you notice that it's taking longer than usual to brake, then you may have an issue called a "brake fade". If you apply pressure to the brake pedal over a vast distance but you don't fully stop your vehicle, then it takes a toll on your braking system. Don't worry, you did nothing wrong — you usually only do this maneuver when it's necessary, for example: when you're driving downhill. Unfortunately, sometimes necessary maneuvers can damage your vehicle. You should get a brake service more frequently if you live in an area with lots of hills, as you'll most likely be using your brakes without bringing your vehicle to a full stop frequently. Doing this will damage the brakes, so you'll need to get them checked out and repaired more often. If you get a regular check-up for your brakes, then you should have no issues. 4. Your Brakes Feel Spongy If you notice that your brake pedal feels strange when you press it, then something's wrong. Most of the time, you'll notice that your brake pedal feels squishy or sponge-like, and it may take more pressure to get your vehicle to stop. Visit your dealership as soon as you notice this problem occurring, as it can easily get worse. Eventually, your brake pedal may become fully unresponsive, and you don't need us to tell you how dangerous that is. Call a tow truck immediately, as you really don't want to drive when your brakes aren't working at full capacity. Visit FOX Lexus of El Paso to get your brakes fixed. We'll get to the bottom of your problem and get you back on the road as quickly as possible! Image via pixabay.com | Licensed under Pixabay License

Car radiator repair | FOX Lexus of El Paso in El Paso, TX

5 Signs Your Lexus May Be in Need of a Radiator Repair

Your radiator pumps coolant through your engine to ensure it stays at a reasonable temperature. Unfortunately, sometimes this system malfunctions, and you end up needing a radiator repair. Making an appointment with your El Paso, TX Acura dealer will help you get this problem taken care of. 1. Your Temperature Gauge Is Climbing The most serious and most obvious indication that your radiator is in need of repair is if your vehicle overheats. Be mindful of the temperature gauge while you're driving. The needle on this gauge will show that your vehicle is heating up, and that's when you know that it's time to stop driving. 2. Your Vehicle Produces Steam Your vehicle will start producing steam in serious cases of overheating. It comes from under your hood and is caused by a lack of coolant running through your engine. Your engine's components may melt and fuse together when this occurs, so please pull up to the curb to let your vehicle cool down. Refrain from driving until your radiator is repaired. 2. You Have an Internal Leak An internal leak is caused by a punctured or otherwise broken hose in your cooling system. This allows coolant to leak onto your engine and the surrounding components, which will lower your coolant level and discolor your engine. It can also create spots on your engine that will rust in the future – this can also damage your engine. Your cooling system requires a repair, and you'll need a technician to check on your engine to ensure it's not damaged. 3. Your Coolant Level is Dropping Every so often you should check the levels of each fluid in your vehicle. They need to be at the correct level for your vehicle to function properly. Low levels of any fluid will cause problems that can damage your engine. It may occasionally seem like one of your fluids is being used up faster than the rest of them, and this can be normal if you've been driving more than usual recently. If you haven't increased the frequency of your driving, then the low fluid level typically indicates a leak. 4. You See Coolant Near Your Vehicle Walk around your vehicle before every journey, as this will help you spot any pools of fluid nearby. If you spot a fluid pool near your vehicle, then you need to inspect it. Take note of the color, consistency, and odor of this fluid. It may be rainwater or another harmless liquid, but it could also be something leaking out of your vehicle. Coolant is easy to recognize by its bright color and sweet smell. However, it can be mistaken for a spilled milkshake or melted ice cream that someone dropped, so be mindful of this. Always assume that the puddle is coolant, as this will ensure you keep your vehicle safe. Take a sample of the fluid to a technician and clean up the rest. If you notice one of the issues above, give us a call or schedule an appointment with the service department at FOX Lexus of El Paso to bring your vehicle in and we’ll get it sorted out. Top 5 Mexican Restaurants in El Paso, TX

On the Rio Grande, just across the border – and actually part of Mexico before 1848 – El Paso is home to some of the best Mexican restaurants in the United States! Let us show you our absolute favorites. 1. L & J Cafe You might have to wait a little while to get a table here, but you'll soon see why this restaurant is so popular with locals and tourists alike! Dating back to 1927, and the age of prohibition, this institution has a long and storied history. There's everything you'd expect on the menu. Still, if you're unsure, you can ask the friendly staff for recommendations or go for the full Mexican Combination Plate featuring an enchilada, a chile relleno, a taco, a beef flauta, chile verde con carne, rice, beans, and guacamole. It’s a perfect way to experience many different flavors – now you just have to try to choose a favorite for the next visit! 2. Kiki's Situated in Military Heights in a building that has its history traced back over one hundred years, Kiki's is a fantastic and straightforward restaurant and bar serving quality food that's packed with flavor. The restaurant runs a rotating lunch and dinner specials menu, so regulars or those on a budget can get well fed at a great price, but it's the famous specialties that we go there for. The Brisket Machaca is as good as its reputation, and the Chicken Molé must be experienced. 3. Carlos and Mickey's Well known for its lively atmosphere and great for parties and celebrations, this restaurant also has live music from local acts every day! We can't resist starting with the Nachos Grande with beef or chicken and plenty of beans, cheese, and jalapenos. After this, you're spoiled for choice, but we were advised to try the Tacos al Pastor with pork, beans, and a secret sauce from the chef's hometown – it was an excellent option. There's a limited dessert choice, but that doesn't matter since Pancho's Sopapillas are all we need! 4. Leo's Open for brunch, lunch, dinner, and even breakfast on the weekends, this restaurant won't let you down, however hungry you are! It's been run by the family at the same location since 1946, so it is quite the local landmark. There's a great menu of Mexican staples, all cooked fresh and packed with flavor. The staff is accommodating and happy to explain any of the dishes you might not be too sure about. The enchiladas here are particularly popular, and we love the chicken ones with green sauce. Kids are well looked after here with a menu with both Mexican and American options to keep the little ones happy. 5. Tacos Chinampa There are four locations to this small, local chain that offers authentic food with a fun atmosphere. While famous for the tacos, they also have an excellent selection of appetizers, salads, and Mexican plates. But it's the choice of tacos that we visit for, like Al Pastor pork or the Fajitas de Pollo, each with a selection of salsas made fresh in-house. We rarely leave space for dessert here after our taco fill, but we're told the sweet flans are well worth trying! Be sure to check their websites for dining options, as some may only have take-out or delivery available. When you’ve got a craving for some comida deliciosa, visit one of – or all! – of these tasty locales and who knows: you may find a new favorite!

Leo's Open for brunch, lunch, and dinner, as well as breakfast on weekends, this restaurant won't let you down, no matter how hungry you are! But it's the choice of tacos that we visit for - like Al Pastor pork or the Fajitas de Pollo chicken - each with a selection of salsas made fresh in-house. We rarely leave space for dessert here after our Taco fill, but we're told the sweet flans are well worth trying! Find a new source of delicious Mexican food from any of these fantastic local restaurants – or find something different! Don’t worry – there’s no need to thank us!

Car Insurance for Beginners: Three Things to Know

If you've never purchased a car before, you're going to need to know about car insurance. While there are a lot of nuances to auto insurance, you should at least understand the basics so that you get the coverage you need. Liability vs Full Coverage The difference between liability coverage and full coverage is probably the single most important thing you need to understand about auto insurance. Liability insurance only covers damage that you do to others in the event of a car accident. The insurance company will issue payment to cover the other party's vehicle damages and medical costs if you are determined to be at fault in the accident. Most states require a minimum of liability insurance to be held on all vehicles. Full coverage, on the other hand, covers the damage to the other party's vehicle and their medical costs, as well as damage to your own car and your own medical costs. Additionally, full coverage will provide reimbursement for non-collision incidents, such as theft and vandalism. If you lease or finance your vehicle, your lender will likely require you to have full coverage on your vehicle until it is paid off. There is a deductible you'll need to pay first. Mandatory Coverage As mentioned above, all states require minimum liability coverage on any vehicle on the road. The two components of this minimum coverage are bodily injury liability and property damage liability. The bodily injury component pays for costs associated with injuries and death that are caused by you or another person driving your car. The property damage component pays for costs associated with the other party's damaged vehicle or property that is caused by you or another person driving your car. Optional Coverage Even though there are several auto insurance components that are considered optional, they are usually only optional if you purchase your car outright or if you pay off your car loan. These components are collision insurance, comprehensive insurance, and glass insurance. However, it's a good idea to have full coverage on your car at all times, even if you've paid it off, just to be safe, unless the cost of the insurance is more than what the car is worth. Collision Insurance This is the insurance component that covers damage to your vehicle that was caused by an accident when you're at fault. If you're not at fault, the other party's insurance will cover these costs. This insurance does not cover damage related to mechanical failure or normal wear and tear. This insurance will be required for financed and leased vehicles. Comprehensive Insurance This insurance component covers non-collision-related issues such as theft, vandalism, and natural disasters. Finance companies will usually require you to carry this type of insurance on your vehicle until you pay it off. Glass Insurance Usually, glass breakage is covered under comprehensive policies, but you'll have to pay the deductible before the insurance company pays any portion of the damage. Typically, deductibles are higher than the cost of replacing broken glass. Insurance companies offer glass insurance as an additional option, which will cover glass replacement without a deductible.
